How does it work?

Visa-exempt visitors may stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The 180 days are not a fixed half-year: for any date you look back 180 days and count the days you spent in the country. This calculator does the counting for you and shows what is still possible. How does it work?

What is the 90/180-day rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

Visitors who do not need a visa may stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. According to the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, the 180 days preceding each day of stay are taken into account: for every day you look back 180 days, and the days spent in the country must not be more than 90.

Who does the rule apply to?

It applies to all nationals who may enter without a visa, for example citizens of the EU, the UK and the USA, unless an international agreement says otherwise. People who need a visa are allowed the stay shown on their visa.

Do the entry and exit days count?

Yes. The day you enter and the day you leave each count as a full day.

Do days in neighbouring countries count?

No. Bosnia and Herzegovina is not part of the Schengen Area, and the days are counted separately from Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and all other countries. Use the region menu at the top to check other regions.

What happens if I overstay?

Overstaying can lead to fines, removal and a ban on re-entering the country. Plan your trips so that you stay within 90 days.
