How does it work?

Visa-exempt visitors may stay in North Macedonia for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The 180 days are not a fixed half-year: for any date you look back 180 days and count the days you spent in the country. This calculator does the counting for you and shows what is still possible. How does it work?

What is the 90/180-day rule in North Macedonia?

Under the Law on Foreigners, visitors who do not need a visa may stay in North Macedonia for up to 90 days in any 180-day period preceding each day of stay. For every day you look back 180 days, and the days spent in the country must not be more than 90.

Who does the rule apply to?

It applies to nationals who may enter without a visa, for example citizens of the EU, the UK and the USA. People who need a visa are allowed the stay shown on their visa.

Do the entry and exit days count?

Yes. The day you enter and the day you leave each count as a full day.

Do days in the Schengen Area or neighbouring countries count?

No. North Macedonia is not part of the Schengen Area, and its days are counted separately from Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia and all other countries. Use the region menu at the top to check other regions.

What happens if I overstay?

Overstaying can lead to fines, removal and a ban on re-entering the country. Plan your trips so that you stay within 90 days.
